Aberdeen Maritime Museum

The award-winning Aberdeen Maritime Museum tells the story of the city's long relationship with the Sea. The Maritime Museum houses a unique collection covering shipbuilding, fast sailing ships, fishing and port history plus displays on the North Sea oil and gas industry.

Bell Rock Lighthouse, Arbroath

This site commemorates probably Scotland's greatest single engineering feat of the early 19th century, and  celebrates the men who built it.

RSS Discovery, Dundee

A trip to Discovery Point is an adventure in its own right as audiovisual shows, computer-based multimedia and displays of the actual artefacts of the crew transport you to Antarctica. Climb aboard Captain Scott's ship RRS Discovery where you will follow in the footsteps of him and his crew.

Macduff Marine Aquarium, Macduff

Situated on Aberdeenshire’s scenic coast in the traditional fishing town of Macduff, Macduff Marine Aquarium features marine life from the Moray Firth, Scotland’s largest bay, in a variety of exciting and innovative exhibits. 

 

Museum of Scottish Lighthouse, Fraserburgh

The Museum consists of the first lighthouse built on mainland Scotland and a purpose-built museum. The main highlight is a 45 minute guided tour to Kinnaird Head lighthouse.

Aberdeen Built Ships Project

You can use this website to search for information about any of the nearly 3,000 recorded ships built in Aberdeen since 1811 and to see what objects are held at Aberdeen Maritime Museum.

Grace Darling Museum

The RNLI Grace Darling Museum commemorates the life of Victorian Britain’s greatest heroine, who risked her life to rescue nine survivors from the wrecked SS Forfarshire on 7 September 1838.

The Cutty Sark Virtual Museum

The Cutty Sark was one of the last tea clipper chips to be built and one of the fastest. Built on the Clyde in 1869, she was designed by Inverbervie man Hercules Linton.

Fishing Boat Heritage

We have a rich heritage in our communities, families and boats which have committed to the UK fishing industry over the past 150 years. Significant records and recollections of the people and their boats exist today. The Fishing Boat Heritage wbsite has been created to provide a single easily accessed archive before much of this is lost forever.

Royal Museums, Greenwich (The National Maritime Museum & The Cutty Sark)

Here you can board the recently relaunched Cutty Sark. The last surviving tea clipper and the fastest and greatest of her time, she is a living testimony to the bygone, glorious days of sail and, most importantly, a monument to those that lost their lives in the merchant service.

Royal National Lifeboat Institution

We are the charity that saves lives at sea. Our volunteer lifeboat crews provide a 24-hour rescue service in the UK and Ireland, and our seasonal lifeguards look after people on busy beaches. Our Flood Rescue Team helps those affected by flooding.

Scottish Fisheries Museum, Anstruther

Situated in the beautiful fishing port of Anstruther in Fife, Scotland, this charitable trust has become a national institution with an international reputation.

Scottish Maritime Museum, Irvine

Founded in 1983, the Scottish Maritime Museum holds an important nationally recognised collection, encompassing a variety of historic vessels, artefacts, art, fascinating personal items and the largest collection of shipbuilding tools and machinery in the country.
